Hundreds of local children are expected to participate in the Calais Community Easter Egg Hunt when the popular event returns for its sixth consecutive year.

Scheduled for Saturday, April 4, the day before Easter Sunday, the community-wide hunt will once again be organized by the Calais High School National Honor Society.

In addition to the town-wide activity, NHS students will host a special egg hunt for younger children at the elementary school playground.

Residents and businesses are encouraged to take part by placing plastic eggs filled with treats on their lawns or porches by 9 a.m. that morning. To help ensure all children have an opportunity to participate, youngsters are asked to follow the honor system and collect only one egg from each location unless otherwise noted.

Those interested in adding their home or business to the list of participating locations can sign up through the Support for All Things Calais Area Facebook group or contact NHS advisor Anne Scott at ascott@calaisschools.org
