Holmestead’s Entryway Back to Original 1850 Condition

Many today have probably never heard of Asher Bassford, a noted 1800s Calais-area architect.  Bassford designed and built many homes and other structures in the area, among them the old Calais Academy and some now long gone Main Street homes.  One of these structures still stands, however, and that is the Holmestead at 527 Main Street, built in 1850.
