Lincoln Memorial Library Celebrates Dr. Seuss!

What a wonderful celebration was had at the Lincoln Memorial Public Library last Tuesday! As advertised, the party included the essential cake and balloons, as well as a video of the original Cat in the Hat story, everyone signing a thank you card for Senator Collins, and a rousing singing of Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss! The primary goal of the party was to celebrate the library at last receiving a generous grant, which Director Colin Windhorst applied for and was sponsored by Senator Collins, to renovate and expand the original 1912 building. This classic structure was donated to the town of Dennysville by members of the Lincoln family, whose ancestors were among the very first permanent residents of the town, after the conclusion of the Revolutionary War. The birthday party was added to highlight the focus the library has had, especially in recent years, on programs for young people. A dedicated children’s room and an “in-house” washroom are the two important additions that will be most appreciated by the children and the Storytime staff!! A fine time was definitely had by all!
