The Méditerranée Infection University Hospital Institute in Marseille in France have published their open-label non-randomized clinical trial on COVID-19 treatment using hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin. This would seem to be saying it is a cure for the infection in some cases. Hydroxychloroquine sold as Plaquenil is used for malaria treatment and Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Bloomberg is reporting that Apotex is donating 250,000 doses to front-line medical staff, doctors and nurses.
We have published an early report on this drug March 17. A Possible Effective Treatment for Coronavirus (COVID-19)
The study says:
100% of patients treated with hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin combination were virologically cured comparing with 57.1% in patients treated with hydroxychloroquine only, and 12.5% in the control group...
and
We therefore recommend that COVID-19 patients be treated with hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin to cure their infection and to limit the transmission of the virus to other people in order to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the world.
