Almost a year after construction was initially set to begin, the McDonald’s in Calais has a definite date for the demolition of the current restaurant. Back in November 2019, the Calais Planning Board heard a proposal about the plans to demolish the current building and start construction on a new one, which they approved for an estimated construction date of April 2020. With restrictions due to COVID-19, construction was delayed with no new start date planned.
