All Saints United Methodist Church at 849 Main Street has resumed its public baked bean suppers, with the next one set for this Thursday, March 19, at 5 p.m. These dinners will continue on the third Thursday of the month through October. Homemade baked beans, corn scallop, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, and more will be served, along with an assortment of desserts. The cost is $10 per person with take-outs available by calling 207-454-3926 by 4 p.m. the day prior.

Be sure to stop by the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 31 Calais Avenue, for a craft fair this Saturday, March 21. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature a variety of handmade items from local crafters. The fair is sponsored by the church’s Women’s Group and promises a great opportunity to browse unique creations while supporting the community artisans and crafters.

The two-day Spring Festival at Calais High School begins this Saturday, featuring a Chinese raffle with numerous themed baskets available to win, an event organized by JMG students. Visitors can also purchase from a plant sale and a bake sale. The festival will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. A highlight of the weekend will take place Saturday morning when families can enjoy breakfast with the Easter Bunny for just $5 per person, to benefit the school’s National Honor Society.

Families, mark your calendars for Thursday, March 26, for Family Fun Night at Calais Elementary School. Lots of entertaining events are planned, including BINGO for $5 a card, games, crafts, concessions, and more, all for an admission fee of just $5. Family Fun Night will take place from 4 to 6 p.m.

The 6th annual Calais Community Easter Egg Hunt, now organized by the National Honor Society at Calais High School, is set for Saturday, April 4. All businesses and residents are invited to take part by placing plastic-filled eggs on their lawn or porch by 9 a.m. To sign up for kids to stop by for an egg at your residence, go to the Facebook page “Support for All Things Calais Area” or reach out to Mrs. Anne Scott, NHS advisor, at ascott@calaisschools.org.

Don’t forget to get your child(ren) signed up for Little League. Boys and girls ages 4 to 12 can be registered online at https://clubs.bluesombrero.com/calaislittleleagueme. Boys and girls ages 4-6 are eligible for t-ball, boys and girls ages 6-10 are eligible for minor league baseball and softball, and boys and girls ages 9-12 are eligible for major league baseball and softball. The deadline to register is April 3.

The St. Croix Historical Society, 527 Main Street, will host a presentation on Monday, April 6, beginning at 7 p.m. focusing on the Passamaquoddy people and their lives and systems prior to contact with Europeans and the changes that took place as a result of the Doctrine of Discovery. Dwayne Tomah will be the presenter. There is limited seating available, so those interested in attending in person are encouraged to arrive early. The presentation will be recorded and made available for viewing on YouTube.
