Warbler Walk Set for Moosehorn this Saturday

 

There will be a "Warbler Walk" this Saturday, May 20, at Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge. 

Participants will meet at the Eagle Observation Platform parking lot at 7 a.m., then proceed to the Barn Meadow Extension Trail where the three-mile walk around the Barn Meadow Trail will begin.

The American Legion recently recognized three veterans–Richard Monk, William Grass, and Hollis Beers–for their many years of continuous years of Legion membership.

The men are members of the Frederick S. Mills Post 172 American Legion in Vanceboro, and the honor was presented to them by Ike Hubbard, District Commander.

AOS 90 Names New Superintendent

Those students in AOS 90 at the Woodland, Princeton, and Topsfield schools will see a new superintendent beginning on July 1, 2023.  Amanda Belanger will assume the role, replacing Patricia Metta, who will retire.  

Belanger has been part of the school district for 20 years.  Fourteen of those, she said, has been as a teacher at Woodland Elementary School before assuming the role of the school’s principal six years ago.

The Calais Advertiser Welcomes Chloe Bernardini to News Team

 

Chloe Bernardini has joined the news team at The Calais Advertiser while home for her summer break.  Chloe just completed her first year at the University of King's College in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where she majors in journalism and minors in philosophy.  She said, “I’m ecstatic I get to work for a news outlet that still prints their news, rather than having it only available online,” adding, “Overall, I’m just very excited to be a part of something I grew up reading.”  Welcome, Chloe!

Veterans Honored, Remembered During Calais Memorial Day Events

Memorial Day ceremonies to remember fallen heroes took place in Calais on Monday, starting with the wreath laying ceremony at Ferry Point Bridge.

A small group gathered downtown at the international bridge for the annual event with active duty service members, other veterans, and representatives from U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Calais Fire-EMS.
