Get Signed Up for Free Smoke Alarm Installations in Calais
Jayna Smith
The American Red Cross is bringing its Home Fire Campaign to Calais on Friday, April 26, offering free smoke alarm installations for individuals and families in need. This program works to improve home safety and preparedness by ensuring that residents have working smoke alarms and a plan in case of fire.
As part of the program, Red Cross volunteers will provide and install free smoke alarms in homes, working directly with each household to create a personalized fire escape plan. The Red Cross team handles everything, including bringing the necessary equipment, like ladders and drills, and ensuring that each installation is done properly.
This campaign has already made a significant impact in reducing home fire-related deaths and injuries nationwide. By making sure homes have working smoke alarms and an escape plan, the Red Cross is helping families stay safer.
Home fires are the most common disaster in the U.S., yet many can be prevented or mitigated with proper precautions. The Red Cross encourages all residents who do not have working smoke alarms or who need assistance installing them to take advantage of this free service.
