There’s no shortage of Halloween fun in the area this season. From trunk-or-treats to witches parades, here’s a roundup of frightfully fun happenings for all ages to celebrate the season.

Thursday, October 23

Get ready for some spooky fun at Calais Community Hospital, where the staff will be brewing up more than just potions. From 5 to 6:30 p.m., those daring enough can take on a fun blow-up maze, create some creepy crafts, and munch on plenty of tasty treats. It’s the perfect mix of fright and fun at this spooktacular community event for the whole family.

Friday, October 24

Downeast Coastal Conservatory will once again host its annual Pumpkin Glow Jack-O-Lantern Trail from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Mowry Beach Preserve behind the Lubec Elementary School. Enjoy a crackling campfire, s’mores, and spooky tales under the stars. For additional information, one can find Downeast Coastal Conservatory on Facebook or call 207-255-4500.

Saturday, October 25

Head to Eastport for a full afternoon of festive fun! The Eastport Art Fest will feature art activities, face painting, tarot readings, and more from 1 to 3 p.m. along Water Street. Then stick around for the Pumpkin Derby, Witches Parade, and other creative celebrations from 3 to 4 p.m. For the full lineup, visit eastportartfest.org.

The fun continues in Charlotte, where Maritime Munchkins is hosting a Spook-tacular Trunk or Treat from 3 to 6 p.m. at 1006 Ayers Junction Road. Families can look forward to a bouncy house, haunted hallway, and of course, plenty of candy (plus non-candy treats, too!). Bring your best spooky, silly, or dazzling trunk design and join the fun in the trunk-or-treat. The top-voted trunk will take home a $50 Dunkin’ Donuts gift card. Costumes are expected, and space is limited for trunk participants, so RSVP early to reserve your spot. It’s sure to be frightfully fun! Find Maritime Munchkins on Facebook or call (207) 271-8011 for additional details.

At Calais Walmart, the Calais Elementary School PTO will join in to host the annual Trunk-or-Treat from 4 to 6 p.m. Families can stroll through rows of decorated vehicles while costumed kids collect candy and show off their Halloween spirit. Individuals and businesses are invited to join the fun by decorating their trunks and handing out treats, with setup from 3 to 4 p.m. It’s always a favorite stop for local families looking for safe, festive fun!

Back in Eastport, Shead High School invites brave souls to enter its Haunted Hallway. A tamer, family-friendly version runs from 5:30 to 6 p.m., followed by the full “horrifying” experience from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Admission is $5, with a $2 fee for reentry. Along with the scares, visitors can enjoy concessions, crafts, games, and plenty of Halloween fun. And, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Eastport Elementary School, a truck or treat will take place in the front parking lot.

Sunday, October 26

Join the Princeton Parks & Recreation group at the Old School Family Restaurant’s annual Trunk-or-Treat. This starts at 2 p.m. with the best decorated trunk being awarded, along with door prizes for some lucky folks decorating trunks.

Students from the Calais High School Class of 2026 dare you to enter their Haunted Hallway–a twisting maze of shadows, screams, and surprises. From 6 to 7 p.m., the younger kids can take a tamer tour, but once the clock strikes seven, the strobe lights come on, the screams rise, and only the brave should enter. Admission is $5, with a $2 charge for anyone brave enough to face it again.

Thursday, October 30

The Sipayik Boys and Girls Club is hosting a trunk or treat from 6 to 8 p.m. Be sure to come in costume. This will take place in the club’s parking lot, 59 Passamaquoddy Road, Perry. Learn more by finding Sipayik BGCA on Facebook or by calling (207) 853-6161.

Friday, October 31

Calais Free Library will host the much-loved Halloween Parade starting at 3:30 p.m. All kids are invited to dress up and march from the library down Main Street in this long-standing community tradition. Treats will be handed out at the end of the parade, making it a sweet finish for all participants.

Also on Halloween evening, the public is invited to Goodies at the Grange in Alexander from 4 to 6 p.m.  Join the Grangers in handing out treats at the hall. Table space is available at no charge. To reserve a spot or for more information, contact Deb Hanson at 454-8733, Elizabeth McVicar at 454-2838, or Rhonda Oakes at 454-2344.

In Meddybemps, the community center will once again open its doors from 4 to 6 p.m. for local trick-or-treaters. Kids can enjoy candy and snacks in a festively decorated setting, complete with spooky music and seasonal lighting to add to the Halloween fun.

In Calais, families won’t want to miss the Haunted Dollhouse at Wellmore Point on Palmer Street. Now in its second year, this eerie attraction will be open from 5 to 8 p.m., offering a spooky stop for trick-or-treaters and brave visitors alike.

At Calais Methodist Homes, 116 Palmer Street, residents will be handing out candy in the recreation hall from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. and look forward to greeting all the little ghosts and goblins. Visitors are encouraged to stop by and enjoy the warm hospitality, along with David’s famous chicken burgers!

Saturday, November 1

Wrap up the Halloween weekend with some family-friendly fun at Second Baptist Church, 21 Church Street in Calais, during the annual Harvest Party. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. with free hot dogs, followed by a pumpkin-themed message from the pastor in the sanctuary. Afterward, enjoy classic games, a cake walk, and more good-natured fun for all ages. Costumes are welcome, but please keep them church-appropriate–nothing scary, gory, or witchy, please. It’s a great way to celebrate the season in a warm, welcoming community setting.
