On what some say was the coldest night for a parade in the history of the Lioness parade, the Calais Lioness Club executed a great community Christmas parade last Friday night.

Led by Officer Aaron Dana of Indian Township Police Department, the parade took off at 6 p.m. from Dead River Oil and proceeded right through downtown.
Ian and Erika Pratt of the Pratt dealership each drove a truck carrying this year’s Grand Marshals.  Those chosen by the club were the local school principals, representing their staff, administration, school nurses, and students, for all they have done to overcome the challenges brought on by the pandemic.

Principals included Sue Carter, Calais Elementary School; Mary Anne Spearin, Calais Middle/High School; Mandy Belanger, Woodland Elementary School; Joseph Swain, Woodland Jr./Sr. High School; Charity Williams, Princeton Elementary School; Peggy White, Charlotte Elementary School; Jane Smith, Indian Township School; Trevor Flood, Alexander Elementary School; and Penny Johnson, Perry Elementary School.

Calais Police Department and Calais Fire-EMS worked to control traffic, keeping all spectators safe, while Calais Fire-EMS also provided a ride for Santa Claus atop the ladder truck.

Special thanks were also provided by the Calais Lioness to Jamie Bohanon, Dennis Brown, WQDY, and The Calais Advertiser.
